2011 Puligny Montrachet 1er Les Demoiselles, Domaine Philippe Colin

This wine has medium lemon colour. On nose it gives higher than medium aromas of vanilla, honey, cream, butter, lemon jam and mineral. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Full bodied with slightly over medium intensity flavours. Citrus, vanilla, honey and wet stone. Fairly long length with citrus vanilla finish. (91) Too early tro drink and need time to develop.

又一殺嬰事件,早飲了。此酒有一定複雜性,但須時間發展,有貨的不妨過多兩三年至好飲,但太耐又可能個酸度下降,所以唔好放太耐,我對這酒有點期望的。

2002 Corton Charlemagne, Domaine Bonneau du Martray

A medium lemon coloured dry white wine with over medium intensity aromas of apple, pear, vinyl choride, vanilla and oak. It has medium acidity and alcohol. Fuller than medium bodied with over medium intensity flavours of citrus, almond and touch of mineral and grass. The length is over medium level with citrus and vanilla finish. (91) Beautiful finish but a bit lack of complexity.

Paul Dethune Blanc de Noris Champagne Brut


This sparkling wine has medium lemon colour with touch of pink tinge. On nose it gives pronounced aromas of ripe apple, lemon, pear drop, yeast, mineral and honey, quite complex. It is off-dry with fairly high acidity, medium bodied and creamy mousse. Medium alcohol level and over medium flavour intensity. Apple, citrus, grapefruit and touch of honey and caramel. Barely over medium length with citrus and honey finish. (92) Touch of bitterness at the finish makes it not having an even higher rating.

參觀威士忌蒸餾廠(一) - Benromach

早陣子經友人安排去了蘇格蘭參觀了一些威士忌蒸餾廠,現在這裡報導一下。第一間是Benromach。

歷史

Benromach 在 Speyside 是最細的一間蒸餾廠,位於蘇格蘭東北Forres城市外圍。它於1898年由 GlenNevis Distillery 的 Duncan MacCallum 及一位酒商 F W Brickmann 建立,並於1899年開始生產。蒸餾廠於1911年賣了給倫敦的 Harvey McNair & Co.,之後一直生產直至1914年第一次世界大戰。大戰之後蒸餾廠再次轉手到 Benromach Distillery Limited。1938年被美國公司 Associated Scottish Distilleries Limited 收購,之後在1953年再被賣至蘇格蘭的 Scottish Malt Distillers Limited。蒸餾廠於 1966 年開始作了一連串的重建,包括安裝新的爐具及建立更多的廠房。可是在1983年入了最後一桶酒之後停產了。直至1993 年,蒸餾廠被現在的擁有人酒商Gordon & MacPhail 收購而重開,Gordon & MacPhail 之後投入大量金錢翻新廠房並使之重新可以運作,於1998年由皇儲查理斯開幕。皇儲亦獲贈他們的特別世紀版威士忌(限量3500支)作為他50歲生日禮 物,你話做皇室幾多著數呢!皇儲亦在重新投產後的第一桶酒的酒桶上簽名。

 


1999年蒸餾廠的遊客中心開啟,自此大家可以到此蒸餾廠參觀遊覽。蒸餾廠於2000年被蘇格蘭旅遊局給予4星的旅遊景點獎,同年蒸餾廠亦成為 Malt Whisky Trail一員。

蒸餾廠內有一個小小博物館,展示了一些舊式制酒設備,對一些初學者來說是一個好好的學習場所,值得一看。


產品
他們由蘇格蘭各地購入麥芽,並用 Romach Hill 附近的泉水釀造(唔知Ben-romach 的名字可能就是咁來的?)。他們造酒方式貫徹 Speyside 的特色,酒的花果味較重,煤泥味較輕(甚至接近0,由3至13PPM不等),亦主要用美國波斑桶(Bourbon Cask)及西班牙雪利桶(Sherry Cask)陳年。由於蒸餾廠的規模夠細,所以他們可以對不同製酒方法作試驗,這優勢相對其他蒸餾廠來說是頗大的。所以,隨了以陳年時間劃分的傳統產品外, 他們亦有其他較特別的酒品,例如他們 2006 年出產的 Benromach Organic,一隻由有機認証麥芽生產的單一麥芽威士忌。此外,他們亦有自家的 Cask Strength 威士忌和加強煤泥味的 Benromach Peat Smoke。最近,他們更從意大利酒莊買下 Sassicaia 紅酒的酒桶作他們陳年威士忌之用,他們創新的想法真的值得一讚。
蒸餾廠行2007年加建酒窖以提升陳酒設施,2009年推出了重新開廠後第一隻10年陳的單一麥芽威士忌。此威士忌近年在美國得到很好的評價,在美國的 Ultimate Spirits Challenge中得到了95分(滿分100)。現在,這廠已發展了三十多款不同的威士忌。

2007 Klein Constantia, Vin de Constance

Having over medium level of acidity and almost full bodied, this medium copper coloured sweet wine has slightly over medium nose of grape, raisin, floral, honey, dried apricot and touch of mango. Medium alcohol with over medium level flavour intensity. Apricot, honey, citrus, raisin and touch of floral note. Fairly long length with honey citrus finish. (92)

也有一段時間未試這款南非的著名甜酒了。酒香及酒味複雜性不錯,力度也不弱,餘韻也算長,酸甜平衡也在中上水平,整體很好,是質素頗高的甜酒,但當然要各方面再加強才可以有更高評價。

2001 Romanee St. Vivant, Domaine Leroy

This dry red wine has quite high intensity ruby colour but it has a touch of haziness on its clarity. On nose it gives fairly pronounced aromas of strawberry jam, cabbage, mushroom, muddy, vanilla spice and touch of forest floor. Medium acidity, alcohol and bodied, the flavour intensity is over medium level with flavours of red berry, cabbage, spice, mushroom, strawberry and vegetal. Slightly over medium tannin but touch of greenness is detected. Close to long length with subtle red plum finish. (93)

酒色有點點濁但酒香已把你吸引過去了,酒香及複雜性俱佳,餘韻亦長,但單寧有一點青澀,否則是很好的一枝酒。

1995 Nuits St. Georges les Vignerondes, Domaine Leroy

Deep ruby colour with quite high intensity aromas of red cherry, red plum, rose pedal, licorice and touch of vanilla and cedar. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol and bodied with medium ripe and fine-grained tannin. Over medium intensity flavours of red cherry, licorice, cabbage and touch of spice and toasted coffee. Close to long length with red berry finish. (92) Barely a bit bitter at the back.

不論酒香及酒味都有一定的複雜性及強度。餘韻亦長,酒的發展也很好,可是結尾有一點點苦,要扣點分。但整體說都是頗出色的。

2005 Ch. Pichon Lalande

Deep purple coloured with quite pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, blueberry candy, vanilla and smoke, still youthful. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol and full bodied. Ripe medium tannin with over medium intensity of blackcurrant, violet, vegetal, black plum and herbaceous notes. Longer than medium length with blueberry finish. (91) Ripe and young, may develop with some improvement.

早飲了的酒,果味頗出色的,酒力及餘韻不過錯,但仍然未發展出複雜性,現在飲像一枝用法國木桶的新世界酒。

2004 Ch. Palmer

A dry red wine with deep purple colour and over medium intensity aromas of earth, blackcurrant, black plum, violet, smoke and lavender. It has medium acidity and alcohol. Fuller than medium bodied with medium fine-grained tannin. On palate, it gives fairly high intensity flavours of black cherry, herbaceous, violet, licorice and vegetal notes. Fairly long length with black berry finish. (92)

PALMER 在比較弱的年份通常都做出水準穩定的酒。這酒比起好年份的PALMER當然有一定水準距離,但仍不失公整。有一定複雜性及酒力,餘韻亦吸引。PALMER亦提供了一貫的一種誘人的香氣,不錯。

2004 Pavillon Rouge du Ch. Margaux

This is a deep purple wine. On nose it gives barely over medium intensity aromas of blackcurrant, earth, violet, spice and touch of vegetal. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol with fuller than medium bodied. Tannin is at medium level and fine-grained in nature. Medium flavour intensity. Blackcurrant, herbaceous, black cherry, licorice with longer than medium length and blackberry finish. (90)

如果唔係個餘韻有番咁上下長,我唔會覺得有90分。此酒表現出瑪歌風格,頗典型的。但複雜性及酒力也是中中等等的。合格的二軍酒,但如果我有錢我真的不會買來飲。

2005 Pavillon Blanc du Ch. Margaux

Medium lemon green colour and quite oily mouthfeel, this wine has medium nose of cream, butter, grass, white flower and touch of PVC and soap. It is dry with fairly high acidity, fuller than over medium bodied and medium alcohol. The flavours have cream, lemon, grass cutting, vanilla and almond, all at medium level with fairly long length with honey finish. (91)

不錯,但不會令我覺得05年的波爾多白酒是好好,香氣複雜,酒味亦不錯,但力度有點不夠濃厚,但又不致令人覺得優雅,口感頗厚重,不是輕巧類型。可口的,特別是對喜愛酒體重的人來說。

2000 Ch. Duhart Milon

This wine possesses a deep purple colour. On nose it gives over medium intensity aromas of blackcurrant, earth, violet, smoke, menthol and vanilla. Dry with medium acidity and alcohol, together with slightly over medium bodied and medium fine-grained tannin. The flavour intensity is at medium level with flavours of black cherry, tea, smoke, licorice and touch of earth. Longer than medium length with black cherry finish. (90)

酒是不錯的,但除了因為同拉菲有關外真係唔知點解值咁貴。酒香比酒味好,餘韻合格,是一個一班人吹水時飲的酒。

1990 Ch. Montrose

A deep purple dry wine with almost pronounced aromas of damp earth, black plum, violet, blackcurrant, coffee, toast, smoke and touch of licorice spice. Medium acidity and alcohol with fairly full bodied. Higher than medium fine-grained tannin. On palate it gives almost pronounced flavours of black cherry, black plum, violet with touch of smoke, licorice and damp earth. Long length with black cherry finish. (96)

第二次試這被譽為100分的酒,感覺仍很好很滿足。酒的複雜性及酒力充沛,餘韻長,唯一有小小未到完美的就是單寧仍未融合哂,但已經好好味。

1982 Ch. Gloria

This old dry red wine has barely deep purple colour. It has medium aromas intensity which contains aromas of vegetal, leather, cedar and touch of black plum and smoke. Medium acidity and alcohol. Soft and mellow tannin is detected still. Medium bodied with slightly over medium flavours of black olive, herbaceous, cedar and toast. Quite long length with black olive finish (91). Sign of tired detected but may be due to condition.

老酒風格,大部份果味已轉化了,酒力(不論香氣與酒味)也開始弱了點,唯獨餘韻話你知它是一枝不錯的酒。發展頗成熟,因我短期內連飲了兩枝,而且是雙瓶莊,酒的狀態要注意,因為我第二次飲時酒的狀態比第一枝好。

2007 Ch. Marjosse

This is a deep purple wine with fairly high aromas intensity. The aromas contain blackcurrant, violet, licorice, smoke and toast. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol and fuller than medium bodied. Medium soft tannin too. On palate it gives barely over medium intensity flavours of black cherry, smoke and licorice. Medium length with black cherry finish. (88) Quite simple and straight forward.

簡單、直接、平凡是美的一款酒,香氣有點複雜,亦有一點濃厚。口感則較弱及簡單,餘韻尚可接受。普普通通的,吃飯時飲也不錯。

1997 Ch. de Fargues

A medium gold coloured sweet wine with over medium intensity aromas of honey, raisin, apricot, grassy and dried flower. Over medium acidity and fuller than medium bodied. The flavour intensity is just slight over medium level. Lemon, floral, mineral and vanilla. Fairly long length with lemon finish with touch of bitterness. (91)

酒香也算濃,有一點點複雜性。甜酸度也不錯,酒味亦充足,可惜簡單了點,餘韻算長,雖在一丁點兒苦但仍可接受,整體也是不錯的了。

1998 Ch. d'Yquem

This sweet wine possesses a medium gold colour. On nose it gives quite pronounced aromas of honey, grass, fresh lemon, vanilla, apricot and touch of limestone. It still has over medium acidity and quite full bodied. On palate, it has just over medium flavours of lemon, honey, raisin, apricot and vanilla. Fairly long length with honey and lemon finish. (92)

酒香很好,展現了一貫蘇岱的風格,香氣有豐富果實之餘亦有清爽的草顃及礦石木桶味。酸甜平衡好亦適中。口中酒味少了點、簡單了點,有點失望。

1999 Ch. d'Yquem

This sweet wine has medium intensity lemon colour. On nose it has close to pronounced intensity aromas of honey, citrus, grass, floral, stone, vanilla and botrytised notes. Medium sweetness with fuller than medium bodied. Slightly over medium acidity and medium alcohol. The flavour intensity is at higher than medium level. Raisin, honey, citrus and grassy. Fairly long length with honey and botrytised finish. (93)

香氣好吸引的一枝滴金。酒香複雜但酒味的複雜性較遜色。餘韻長,甜酸的平衡也很好,可以配襯甜品或單獨品飲,好味道。

1990 Ch. Branaire Ducru

This wine still possesses deep purple colour. On nose it gives over medium intensity aromas of black plum, mulberry, smoke, vegetal, black cherry and touch of tea. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Medium fine-grained tannin and slightly fuller than medium bodied. Medium flavour intensity with black cherry, earth and bell pepper flavour. Fairly long length with black plum finish. (90)

香氣也不錯但酒味有點較簡單,餘韻長,酒的力度是有的但複雜性略遜。

1982 Ch. Branaire Ducru

It has barely deep ruby coloured with pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, herbaceous, earth, bell pepper with touch of violet and cedar. Dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Medium bodied with soft medium tannin and barely over medium flavour intensity. Bell pepper, red plum and vegetal on palate with fairly long length and cherry finish. (91) Good development but not too complex.

發展成熟良好,複雜性欠了點,酒香出眾,口感也不錯,但真係要飲了,唔會再保持到好多年的酒。

1982 Vieux Chateau Certan

This wine still possesses deep ruby colour. It has pronounced nose of violet, earth, smoke, coffee, dark chocolate and touch of vanilla and wormwood, well developed. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Medium bodied and fine-grained tannin. On palate, it gives barely over medium intensity flavours of wormwood, smoke, red cherry and violet. Fairly long but subtle length of cedar wood finish (92) Complex, good development but  not much fruit now.

發展成熟的酒,果味已退了,全是成熟的香氣及酒味,餘韻悠長,慢慢嘆真係正。這枝是超大樽裝,單樽裝的狀態要小心一點。

2009 Ch. L'Evangile

This is a deep purple wine with pronounced intensity aromas of candied black plum, licorice, vanilla, smoke, blue berry and touch of earth. It is dry with higher than medium acidity. Medium alcohol and full bodied with quite high intensity flavours of blueberry and touch of earth, vanilla and toast. Long length with cassis finish (94). Rich and concentrated, still have long tome to go.

太早飲了。濃厚的果味,仍然頗酸。酒差不多全部都是濃縮果汁似的,餘韻長。老實說這酒並沒有100分的複雜性,8至9年後再試可能會好些。

1996 Ch. Grand Puy Lacoste

A  deep purple wine with pronounced aromas of black plum, earth, vanilla and sweet spice. Quite full bodied and high level of ripe tannin. Medium acidity and alcohol. On palate it gives quite high intensity of black plum and black cherry with vanilla notes. Fairly long length with black cherry finish. (92) Still young to drink, need to wait for 1 or more years to get better enjoyment.

96年波爾多真的那麼硬?這個可是一個好的例子,果仍重,未有很大的發展,但有潛質。

1996 Ch. Phelan Segur

This wine has deep purple colour with quite pronounced aromas of black cherry, damp earth, toast and smoke. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Fuller than medium bodied with quite high fine-grained tannin. The flavour intensity is slightly over medium level. Black cherry, earth, dust and toast with fair long length with black plum finish. (90) Good typicity.

ST. ESTEPHE 的風格充分顯現出來,有一定發展和複雜性,果味及其他酒味亦合格,餘韻亦算長,但要多一點的複雜性及混合性才可以得到更好的評價。

1996 Ch. Clerc Milon

This is a deep purple coloured wine with over medium intensity aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, herbaceous and hints of licorice. Dry with medium acidity, alcohol and bodied. The tannin is soft and ripe at medium level with quite high flavour intensity. Ripe blackberry, mulberry, and prune with slightly longer than medium length of blueberry finish. (91)

1996 Ch. Leoville Poyferre

A deep purple wine with quite high intensity nose of black plum, wood shaving, licorice, vanilla, cedar and touch of prune. Dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Quite full bodied with quite high fine-grained tannin. On palate it has quite high intensity flavours of black cherry, black plum, prune, vanilla and dried herb. Barely over medium length with blueberry finish. (91)

仍有發展潛力的酒,香味已發展得不錯,酒味亦算濃郁,但欠了一點點層次感似的,深度不足,否則值得更高的評價。

1996 Ch. Pontet Canet

Deep purple with barely over medium aromas of blackcurrant, violet, toast, tea and touch of graphite. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Fuller than medium bodied with quite high soft and ripe tannin. Quite pronounced flavours of black plum, mulberry, licorice and touch of hay. Fairly long length with black plum finish. (92)

整體工整濃厚,香氣及酒味也交足貨,但有點過於濃郁而導致矛少了點優雅,鍾意重口味的會很喜歡這酒。

1996 Ch. Chasse-Spleen

Deep purple wine with medium nose of blackcurrant, plum, mint, violet with touch of prune, smoke and pine. Medium acidity, alcohol and barely over medium bodied. Quite high tannin but fine-grained in nature. Slightly higher than medium intensity flavours of black cherry, vegetal, quite heady. Medium length with black cherry and herbaceous finish, (89)

感覺蠻重的一枝酒,香氣有一定複雜性,口感簡單了點而令到酒精感重了點,餘韻合格,中規中矩。

1996 Ch. Gruaud Larose

A dry red wine with deep purple colour and quite intense nose of blackcurrant, mint leaf and licorice. It has medium acidity, alcohol and bodied. Quite high tannin but fine-grained in nature. The flavour intensity is medium with flavours of black cherry, herbaceous with barely over medium length and black cherry finish. (88) Quite simple and clean

出奇地簡單,平平實實,但又有一點東西隱約地藏在酒裡,餘韻亦顯示酒質不差,但又好像展現不了似的。

1996 Domaine de Chevalier

With deep purple colour and medium acidity / alcohol, this dry red wine has quite pronounced aromas of blackcurrant candy, prune, candied plum, earth and warm brick. Quite full bodied and quite high fine-grained tannin. On palate it gives medium intensity flavours of blue cherry, plum with vegetal notes. Fairly long length with black plum finish. (92) Ripe and fruity.

濃縮果汁似的,果味成熟,但酒的複雜性變弱了,雖然仍展現到GRAVES的風格,口感亦較單調,因果味太出,餘韻不錯

1996 Ch. Rol Valentin

Deep purple coloured with fairly high intensity aromas of black cherry, mint leaf, black plum, licorice and violet. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Quite high in tannin and a bit coarse in nature. Slightly over medium bodied with medium intensity flavours of vegetal, black cherry and herbaceous. Medium length with black cherry finish. (89)

口感單調了一點,但香氣仍不錯。餘韻合格,單寧較有點粗糙,不是很出眾,但也不錯的酒品。

1996 Ch. Leoville Barton

A deep purple dry red wine with pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, smoke, plum, earth and violet. Medium acidity and alcohol with slight fuller than medium bodied. The tannin is chewy at medium level. Slightly over medium intensity flavour of black berry, plum, bell pepper and licorice. Medium length with black plum finish and trace of bitterness. (90)

餘韻比想像中短了點,亦有一點苦。香氣是很不錯的,酒味亦好,如果唔係有點後勁不繼的話,會好好的。

1996 Ch. Talbot

Deep purple coloured with over medium aroma intensity of blackcurrant, smoke, vegetal, black plum and tobacco. Dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Still over medium soft tannin with medium flavours of black cherry, vegetal and toast. Fairly long length with subtle black cherry finish. (91)

發展不錯,單寧仍強,香氣吸引,餘韻算長但較隱約,不錯。

1986 Ch. Pape Clement

With 16 years of age, this dry red wine still possess almost deep purple colour with medium nose of blackcurrant, cherry, smoke, violet with touch of warm brick. Medium acidity, alcohol and soft ripe tannin, together with slightly fuller than medium bodied. The flavour intensity is barely over medium. Plum, warm brick, smoke and earth filling the round and well integrated palate. Fairly long length with cherry and warm brick finish. (92)

充分表現了它的風格。香氣複雜但不太強烈,餘韻亦交足貨,口感可惜較弱,慢慢嘆,正。

1990 Ch. Clerc Milon

Quite high intensity purple colour with almost pronounced nose of blackcurrant, plum, smoke, licorice, cedar and earth. It has medium acidity and alcohol. The tannin is at medium level but exhibits a little bit coarse. Slightly over medium bodied. On palate, the flavour intensity is barely over medium with flavours of black plum, mulberry, smoke and toast. Medium length with cherry and smoke finish. (91)

似武當嗎?似,特別係香氣,頗吸引的。果味依然濃郁,可惜單寧有點菱角,餘韻亦比想像中短,但整體仍好飲。

1982 Ch, Petit Village

With a quite deep ruby colour core, this dry red wine has medium intensity aromas of red cherry, plum, tea and leather. Medium acidity, alcohol and bodied with soft medium tannin. On palate it gives medium intensity of red cherry, leather and coffee. Fairly long length with red plum and tea finish. (89) Starting fading wine but classic. Good development too.

2001 Le Dome

Deep ruby in colour with almost pronounced aromas of black plum, violet, blackberry, smoke, licorice with touch of dark chocolate. Dry with medium acidity, alcohol and fine-grained ripe tannin. 1989 Ch. Pichon Lalande

This wine has deep purple colour and medium nose of blackcurrant, vegetal, smoke, black plum, pine and touch of British tea. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol and bodied. Ripe and smooth medium tannin with quite pronounced flavours of black plum, violet, herbaceous and pine. Fairly long length with black cherry finish. (90) Complex nose but lack of intensity. Good and reasonable palate and length too.

1988 Ch. Latour

Deep purple dry red wine with medium black plum, cassis, blueberry, smoke, earth, vanilla, and touch of toasty oak. Quite full bodied with medium alcohol and acidity. Medium soft and ripe tannin with long herbaceous length and finish. Quite high intensity of vegetal, black cherry, and vanilla. A bit simple on palate yet powerful. (90) Concentrated with complex nose. Pure yet powerful palate with loads of fruit. Not bad.

1983 Ch. Leoville Poyferre

It is a dry red wine with fairly high intensity purple colour. On nose it gives quite pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, violet, herbaceous, black cherry, mint, cedar and licorice. Medium acidity and alcohol with medium ripe and soft tannin. Quite high intensity flavours of prune, blueberry, vanilla and licorice. Fairly long length with black cherry finish. (90) Reasonable nose and ripe fruit on palate. Good development.

1978 Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou

Quite deep purple in colour with higher than medium intensity aromas of blackcurrant, bell pepper, herbaceous, smoke, earth with touch of mint leaf, pencil shaving and hint of reduction. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol, and body. The tannin still has medium level and smooth. On palate it gives medium black cherry, bell pepper and licorice flavours with slightly over medium length and licorice finish. (89) Good complexity on nose but rather simple on palate.

1970 Ch. Montrose

Quite deep purple colour with medium aromas of damp earth, violet, black plum, licorice, and toasted bread. Dry with medium acidity, alcohol and bodied and quite high tannin which is fine-grained in nature. Medium intensity flavours of black cherry, violet, bell pepper, smoke and tea. Slightly longer than medium length with black cherry finish. (91) Decent and fine, still shows good complexity and intensity after more than 40 years. Good development and can be drunk nicely.

這酒是一個典型例子去解釋什麼叫"耐藏"。經歷四十多年,這酒仍有一定的果味,一定的發展,一定的餘韻,一定的複雜性和一定的酒力。單寧仍充足,好味。

1966 Ch. Montrose

Though it is not totally opaque, it still has quite deep ruby colour and medium intensity aromas of black plum, wet towel, cedar, smoke, dark chocolate, sweet spice and mushrooms. Dry with medium acidity, bodied and alcohol. Medium smooth tannin with medium flavour intensity. Blackcurrant, herbaceous, bell pepper with touch of cedar and tea. Slightly longer than medium length with herbal finish. (89) Good integration but a bit simple on palate. Surprisingly fruity for this over 40 years gem.

四十六年酒居然仍有這種程度的果味,令人有點驚喜。各種味道混為一體,雖然複雜性不是很足,但柔順口感令人可以很舒暢地飲。

1994 Ch. Lafite Rothschild

This is a dry red wine with deep purple colour. It has quite high intensity aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, cedar, graphite, herbaceous, prune, pine and earth, quite complex. Medium acidity, alcohol and slightly fuller than medium bodied. Quite vibrant with higher than medium intensity fine-grained tannin. Higher than medium flavours of black plum, bell pepper, herbaceous with touch of oak and tea. Longer than medium length with black plum finish. (92) Quite well developed and concentrated. Nose better than palate. Not at peak tho.

第三次飲,越飲越好,但亦不至於好好。香氣足,夠複雜,但口感跟不上。餘韻不錯,整體上亦令人感到一點優雅,期望它幾年後的表現,但相信不會變成一枝超凡出眾的酒品。

1958 Ch. Lafite Rothschild

This old wine has almost pale rube colour with touch of haziness. On nose it gives medium intensity aromas of black cherry, cedar, and bell pepper type herbaceous notes. It is dry with rather low acidity, alcohol and lighter than medium bodied. You can sense a bit waterly on palate. Medium flavours intensity of red cherry, bell pepper, vegetal and touch of mushroom. The length is a bit surprisingly long, though it is barely longer than medium level with cedar finish. (85) An old wine. All flavours show fading signs. Not too tasty but you should still appreciate that it can stand for half a century.

一個字:淡。但經歷了半個世紀有多的酒也是頗正常。仍有一點點的果味,當然大部分是已發展的氣味,難得的是其餘韻仍在。飲這酒是在享受它的歷史甚於一切。

2001 Ch. Margaux

This wine has a deep purple colour. On nose it gives quite pronounced aromas of violet, black plum, smoke, vegetal, cassis, sweet vanilla and touch of acetic.  It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol, quite full bodied with higher than medium soft and ripe tannin. The flavour intensity is quite high with flavours of blackcurrant, violet, herbaceous, and touch of bell pepper and sweet spice. Fairly long length with black plum finish. (91) Still fruity and shows some development. Quite complex with reasonable intensity as a First Growth.

一支仍在發展的酒,果味濃郁,口感仍未有充分發展,故現在有點簡單,發展成熟應該不錯。複雜性與餘韻以一級莊來說也算合格。
