2000 Ch. Palmer

Deep purple colour with quite intense noses of violet, blackcurrant, blueberry and traces of vegetal, smoke, bell pepper and cedar, still rich in fruit. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol, full bodied with medium ripe and soft tannin. On palate it has over medium intensity flavours of blueberry juice, blackcurrant, vegetal and touch of bell pepper and licorice. Longer than medium length with blueberry finish. 已經20年多的酒仍有那樣的果感是很令人喝得開心的，亦印證咗這酒的品質。酒的各方面也是中上的，尤其是口感。酒的發展很好，雖然仍可陳年，但現在飲的狀態是成熟前的最後一刻，喜愛多一點果味而又成熟的酒的朋友，現在喝會很喜歡。好味，亦飲得很暢快。

2001 Ch. Palmer

This dry Bordeaux has deep intensity purple colour. On nose it has quite high intensity aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, mint, violet, blueberry jam and touch of licorice and earth. Medium acidity and alcohol, full bodied with medium fing-grained tannin, touch of stalky. The flavour intensity is over medium level with flavours of black berry, bell pepper, mint, and touch of licorice. Longer than medium length with black cherry finish. (91)

PALMER 永遠都可以造到一股誘人的香氣，雖則細心再聞之下會發覺沒有什麼驚喜。酒香好，口感不算太柔頫，酒在口中複雜性不及香氣，餘韻算長，幾好飲，以這冷冷的年份來說已很不錯了。

1997 Ch. Palmer

Deep purple with close to pronounced level noses of blackcurrant, earth, violet, licorice, black plum, fig and dried blackberry, quite fruity. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol and quite full bodied. Tannin is quite high and a bit coarse. On palate it has slightly over medium intensity flavours of blackcurrant, bell pepper, licoirce, dried herb and earth. Fairly long length with blackberry finish. (91)

果香豐富得有點令我出奇，酒體也很豐厚，口感滿滿的，只是單寧有點點"鞋"口。酒味的強度與複雜性也不錯，餘韻亦算長，幾好飲。這酒莊在較差的年份往往造出令人印象深刻的酒，包括這枝。

1998 Ch. Palmer

This is a dry red wine with deep intensity purple colour. On nose it gives quite high intensity aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, blueberry, earth, violet and touch of bell pepper, licorice and graphite. It is dry with medium acidity, medium alcohol and fairly full bodied. Medium fine grained chewy tannin too. The flavours intensity is at slightly higher than medium level with flavours of blackcurrant, bell pepper, violet, earth, smoke and licorice. Slightly longer than medium length with black plum finish. (91)

這也是一個水準穩定的酒莊。酒的發展已差不多完全成熟 ，果感仍足，單寧有點咬口，酒味在口中簡單了些，餘韻亦冇想像中咁長，整體還不錯，好飲。

1998 Ch. Palmer

This dry red wine still has deep purple colour. On nose it gives fairly high intensity aromas of herbaceous, black plum, graphite, leather, smoke, damp earth and touch of licorice and cedar. Medium acidity, alcohol and bodied, with medium soft tannin. The flavour intensity is at medium level. Black cherry, vegetal, bell pepper and touch of herbaceous. Longer than medium length with black cherry and vegetal finish. (92)

發展很不錯，亦頗成熟的一枝波爾多酒。酒香強烈亦複雜，口感亦柔順，酒味在勁度及複雜性均比酒香有所不及，餘韻算長及吸引，好飲。淨飲或佐餐也很合適。

2004 Ch. Palmer

A dry red wine with deep purple colour and over medium intensity aromas of earth, blackcurrant, black plum, violet, smoke and lavender. It has medium acidity and alcohol. Fuller than medium bodied with medium fine-grained tannin. On palate, it gives fairly high intensity flavours of black cherry, herbaceous, violet, licorice and vegetal notes. Fairly long length with black berry finish. (92)

PALMER 在比較弱的年份通常都做出水準穩定的酒。這酒比起好年份的PALMER當然有一定水準距離，但仍不失公整。有一定複雜性及酒力，餘韻亦吸引。PALMER亦提供了一貫的一種誘人的香氣，不錯。

1995 Ch. Palmer

A deep purple wine with strong aromas of blackcurrant, violet, red plum, licorice, smoke and cedar. It is dry with medium acidity and alcohol. Medium plus bodied. Tannin is soft and fine grained at medium plus level. Quite high intensity of black plum, black cherry, violet, licorice and cedar. Long length with black cherry finish. Tasted the same wine on 4 Nov 2011, this one was drunk beautifully after bottled air for 2 hours or so. However, the one on 4 Nov 2011 seems to have layers of complexity which this one does not have. Is it a matter of US slip label?

1999 Ch. Palmer

This wine has deep ruby/purple colour and some tears. Violet, blackcurrant, plum, vanilla, black cherry with trace of mineral, earth, smoke and cedar. A trace of lavender attacks me after the wine airs a bit more. Surprising. On palate, it is dry with medium alcohol and acidity. Medium plus body and ripe soft tannin. Tannin level is still on stronger side. Long length with a complex plummy and cedar finish. The flavours are violet, lavender, mint, blackcurrant, cherry, cedar, licorice which keeps evolving and changing on palate. Wonderful. (96)

* I understand that a Japan comic named this one as the second disciples and it compared this wine with Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, as it said that this wine gave you some ambiguity. I think the evolving floral nose and palate of this wine did give me a sense like this but it is just a very short feeling.

2005 Ch. Palmer

A deep purple wine with heavy legs and pronounced aromas of ripe black plum which is like candied, blackcurrant, violet, toast, smoke, licorice with trace of graphite, fig, sweet vanilla and prune. Ripe tannin but quite strong at the moment with medium alcohol and acidity. It is dry though its fruit is so ripe that it has a candied type sensation. Full bodied with high intensity of flavours. Black plum, blueberry, licorice with hints of mint, herbaceous, cedar, bell pepper. Good integration but needs time for further flavours development. Long length with black plum finish. (95)

1995 Ch. Palmer

A deep purple coloured wine with paler rim and legs. On nose it gives blackcurrant, fig, black cherry, violet, licorice, cedar, with trace of smoke and earth. Dry, medium alcohol and acidity. The palate is so enjoyable that layers of flavours of black fruit, licorice-type spice, bell pepper, cedar, and earth. Well integrated with silky tannin. Long length with berry finish. This is a good example for a wine that shows both power and elegance. (95)

2008 Ch. Palmer

Deep purple colour with some legs. It gives on nose pronounced aromas of violet, blackcurrant, ripe plum, vanilla, licorice with trace of earth. Very aromatic. Dry with full body, medium alcohol and acidity, ripe and fine-grained tannin with strong flavours of black fruit, trace of vanilla and spice. Long length with black cherry finish. Sure it will improve over time but the load of fruit can be revealed during tasting. (93)

1988 Ch. Palmer

This medium ruby dry wine has a nose of leather, earth with trace of black fruit and spice. It has medium acidity and body. The tannin is soft and the after taste does not last long. On palate, red fruit flavour is evolved but tired, with trace of smoke and earth. I really doubt that this one is over its peak, though it can still be drunk comfortably. (88)

2005 Alter Ego de Palmer

A dark ruby dry wine with ripe and sweet black fruit nose and hints of spice, smoke and licorice. It has low acidity and medium body. The tannin is medium to high but soft. On palate, the black fruit flavours follows with a bit leather, earth and mint taste. The finish is comparatively long for a second wine. It makes me wonder what the taste will be of its grand vin. A nice one. (92)

1997 Ch. Palmer

A strong nose of complex aroma, this is a nice ruby wine in terms of aroma, complex and with layer of blackcurrant, plum, and a slight floral character. Oak treatment is found which may be due to the oak work in a weak vintage. The wine is also over its peak in May 2008 but still be drunk nicely. (88) (Posted on 22 August 2008, reposted)

XIXth Century Lot 2007 from Ch. Palmer

A deep purple wine with aromas of floral, vanilla, black plum, toast, candied cherry,banana,  pepper and earthy.  It is dry with medium alcohol. Medium acidity and medium plus body. Quite high in tannin but still fine-grained. Flavours contain red plum, black cherry, earthy, floral, candied cherry and spice. Fairly long length with spicy finish. (89)

Ch. Palmer 試酒會- 2011.11.04

於2011年11月4日在香港國際美酒展參加了Chateau Palmer的試酒會。飲完佢的酒寫番少少野作紀錄。

酒莊歷史：


Palmer 的歷史可追朔至1814年。一位英國將軍 Charles Palmer 向法國波爾多的 Gascq 家族收購了他們陷入財困的酒莊，並易名為 Chateau Palmer。

在1816 至1831年間，他大力投資收購土地，酒莊亦發展至163公頃，其中82公頃為葡萄園。

酒 莊當時由 Pereire 兄弟打理。由於酒莊並沒有足夠時間發展及改良，所以在1855年波爾多分級時酒莊只被界定為三級。䢫著發展，現有的酒莊結構於 1856年落成。到1918年酒莊由四個家族管有：Sichel、Mahler-Besse、Ginestet 及 Miailhe。有兩個其後離開，現在由 Sichel 及Mahler-Besse 擁有。

Ch. Palmer 同 Ch. Margaux 都是瑪歌區的代表酒。Ch. Palmer 葡萄園的泥土屬於礫土，有良好的梳水性能。葡萄品種而家主要有 Merlot、Cabernet Sauvignon 及 Petit Verdot。葡萄蕂的種植密度高，一公頃約有一萬株。他同大部份位於 Haut Medoc 區的酒莊有一個分別就是他們的酒有比較高的Merlot 比例。酒莊發言人更說他們種有一些老年的Merlot，所以他們是可以做出好複雜而又優雅的酒。

他們的酒每一年的混合比例不同，有時分別頗大。主要生產兩款酒： Ch. Palmer 及 Alter Ego。

Ch. Palmer 一般在入桶兩年後才入瓶，並以他們認為最適合的葡萄釀制。Alter Ego 則有約18個月存桶，有 25-40%新木桶。

Alter Ego 一直被大家叫作 Palmer 的副牌酒。但酒莊說其實這是他們的另一款產品。Alter Ego 的意思是 "the other me"「另一個我」的意思。此酒於1998年開始投入巿場，主要是提供一隻可以早一點飲用的 Ch. Palmer 。

每年他們會按葡萄的狀態決定把葡萄制成 Ch. Palmer 定 Alter Ego。兩款都不合適的會賣掉。現在 Ch. Palmer 的產量與 Alter Ego 差不多一樣。

試酒會內試了下列4個年份的 Ch. Palmer：

1995年(40% Cab. Sauvignon, 51% Merlot, 9% Cab. Franc)
1999年(48% Cab. Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot)
2005年(53% Cab. Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot)
2008年(41% Cab. Sauvignon, 51% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot)

2008 及 1995 是一同試的，因為此兩款的 Merlot 比例比 Cab. Sauvignon 多。而 1999 及 2005 就是另一組的了。除此之外，今之試酒會還試了兩款 Alter Ego ，分別是 2004 及 2007 年。亦試了它的 XIX CENTURY LOT 2007。 此酒是酒莊特別製造的 TABLE WINE，所以不可以有年份顯示而要用批號顯示(暗示)年份。
