酒香複雜性很好,足証這酒莊的水準穩定。酒力算強,酒味在口中果感十足,只是餘韻比較短了些,單寧有丁點青但影響不大 。整體來說是一枝可口的酒。誰說道姑是木桶水??

1978 Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou

Quite deep purple in colour with higher than medium intensity aromas of blackcurrant, bell pepper, herbaceous, smoke, earth with touch of mint leaf, pencil shaving and hint of reduction. It is dry with medium acidity, alcohol, and body. The tannin still has medium level and smooth. On palate it gives medium black cherry, bell pepper and licorice flavours with slightly over medium length and licorice finish. (89) Good complexity on nose but rather simple on palate.

Third time to taste this beauty offered by my friend. This one is not an ex-chateau item and coincidentally both ex-chateau items performed better than this one to some extents. The wine lacked evolvement on palate then the previous two I tasted, tho this one can be drunk beautifully still.

1996 Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou

Second time to taste this one and the last time was in December 2008. This time it performs much better. The wine still have a deep to opaque ruby colour after 13 years. The aromas is led by a ripe blackcurrant attack and subtle cedar, leather, pencil shaving aromas follow with trace of smoke and spicy. On palate, the first layer of the flavours is still ripe berries and blackcurrant where its second layer of the flavours is full of cedar, leather and pine wood. Some earthy and woody flavours are found when swallowing the sip. It has medium alcohol and acidity. The body is medium to full with round, smooth and chewy tannin. The finish lasts for more than a minute which makes me more enjoyable when drinking this one and talking with friends. You can really feel the aftertaste flavour flowing out from your mouth. Given its tannin and acidity, the wine is still progressing for at least 3 more years. Beautiful (97)

1995 Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou

A deep ruby dry wine with remarkable blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar, mint, licorice and trace of earthy and vegetal nose. It has medium acidity and body, and it has smooth medium tannin. On palate, plumy, cedar, earthy and blackberry flavours are more apparent with a long finish of mineral, earth and plum. A quality wine that its flavours and aromas are consistent from the nose to aftertaste. A good one. (93)

1996 Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou

This dry wine is deep clear ruby in colour. It gives a pronounced blackcurrant and cedar nose with trace of elegant wood and wet leaf, together with a significant pencil-shaping flavour. It has medium to full body with medium acidity. The tannins is ripe and supple. In palate, a mouthful of soft, round, ripe and sweet tannin makes this wine well balanced. The flavours are consistently carried over from the nose to palate with a medium finish. This is highly enjoyable and outstandingly made, no wonder why it is called the Lafite of St. Julien. A perfect example of a good vintage St. Julien. (95) (Tasted on 8 December 2008, reposted)
