12.9.13
1996 Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou
Second time to taste this one and the last time was in December 2008.
This time it performs much better. The wine still have a deep to opaque
ruby colour after 13 years. The aromas is led by a ripe blackcurrant
attack and subtle cedar, leather, pencil shaving aromas follow with
trace of smoke and spicy. On palate, the first layer of the flavours is
still ripe berries and blackcurrant where its second layer of the
flavours is full of cedar, leather and pine wood. Some earthy and woody
flavours are found when swallowing the sip. It has medium alcohol and
acidity. The body is medium to full with round, smooth and chewy tannin.
The finish lasts for more than a minute which makes me more enjoyable
when drinking this one and talking with friends. You can really feel the
aftertaste flavour flowing out from your mouth. Given its tannin and
acidity, the wine is still progressing for at least 3 more years.
