16.5.17

This dry red wine has deep purple colour with quite high intensity of blackcurrant, green bell pepper, violet, mint, licorice and touch of tobacco and cedar. It has medium acidity, alcohol and fuller than medium bodied. The tannin is fine grained at medium level with over medium intensity flavours of blackcurrant, green bell pepper, licorice, cigar leaf. Fairly long length with blackcurrant finish. (92)

34年酒仍保持著這樣的濃度已經值得一讚。酒香強而發展成熟,有一定複雜性。酒的表現在口中保持一致,餘韻算長,好好飲。酒的表現相信已沒甚麼空間發展,現飲一流,正。

1982 Ch. Leoville Las Cases

This dry red wine still has deep purple colour. On nose it has pronounced level aromas of blackcurrant, bell pepper, black cherry, licorice, pine wood, forest floor and touch of graphite and smoke. Medium acidity, alcohol and quite full bodied with medium ripe and fine grained tannin. Quite high intensity flavours of black cherry, licorice, vegetal and touch of smoke. Fairly long length with blackberry finish. (92)

2006 Clos du Marquis

Deep purple in colour with medium intensity aromas of plum jam, blackcurrant, violet, loads of black berries, smoke and touch of vanilla. Dry with medium alcohol, acidity and fine-grained and ripe tannin. Medium bodied and flavour intensity. Blackcurrant, vegetal, black cherry and smoke. Medium length with black berries finish. (90) Rich fruit but lack of complexity to be a good one.

中規中矩的酒,但以二軍酒來說是不錯的了,果味濃郁,惜複雜性比想像中較低。

1998 Clos du Marquis

This is a deep purple wine with quite intense aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, smoke, cedar with touch of herbaceous. Dry with medium acidity, alcohol and bodied. On palate it has quite high intensity flavours of bell pepper, blackcurrant, violet and some stalky herbaceous notes. Tannin is at medium level and ripe and silky. 喜慶場合,有咩好過開一枝可以即開即飲,有一定質素,輕鬆地暢飲的酒? 此酒恰如其分,有一定複雜性,又容易為大家接受。現在飲真是非常合適。

1994 Ch. Leoville Las Cases

This is the second time to taste this deep ruby to purple wine. Plum, blackcurrant, licorice, smoke and trace of mint fill up the nose. On palate, it has medium acidity, fine soft tannin and medium to full body. The flavours include blackcurrant, cherry, earth and smoke with a long finish. Nice one (92)

1996 Clos Du Marquis

This dry red wine is deep ruby in colour with paler rim. On nose it has blackcurrant, red cherry aromas with trace of smoke, vanilla, mint and earth. It has medium acidity and body and the tannin is medium+ and fine grained. On palate, it gives red cherry, herbaceous, earthy and spicy with medium+ length. It can be kept for a few more years but can be drunk beautifully now. (90)

1996 Clos du Marquis

This wine is opaque ruby colour with paler rim. It has an attack of blackcurrant and a pronounced ripe plum flavour with trace of cedar, mint leaf and licorice. It has medium acidity, alcohol with soft tannin and medium to full body. On palate, the flavour carries with hints of smoke and spice. The finish runs a few second. A good one. 1994 Ch. Leoville Las Cases

Don't ever challenge the winemaking technique of this chateau. The colour of this wine is deep purple with tint of brick red. It has blackcurrant and pronounced black fruit flavour with cedar wood and pine. On palate, a little bit of herbeaceous and red cherry are tasted. It has medium body and acidity. The structure of the wine is firm but not harsh. The finish can still linger for a few seconds. It shows that Delon family did give a great effort in making this one. 2003 Clos du Marquis

If you talk about second wine, no one will argue that Clos du Marquis is one of the finest second wines in Bordeaux. This wonderful wine is much comparable to most of the 2nd and 3rd growth Grand Vin. Intensive nose is undoubtedly found and you can feel the whole skeleton of the wine. I expect that this wine will reach its peak a few years latter. Though Clos du Marquis is indeed made from grapes of another vineyard, I still wonder how beautiful the Leoville Las Cases will be in this good vintage. (90)
